Rack Readiness

Confirmation that the planned rack and facilities path are ready for an IBM Power installation.

Definition

Rack readiness is the facilities checkpoint that confirms a target IBM Power or AS/400 configuration can actually be installed and serviced in the planned location. It should be checked against the final configured quote, not a generic product family.

  • Rack depth
  • Rail kit fit
  • Floor loading
  • PDU capacity
  • UPS runtime
  • Cooling
  • Cabling
  • Front and rear clearance
  • HMC or console access

Example

A Power 11 refresh can be delayed if the server arrives before the rack path, PDU plan, and cooling plan have been signed off.
