Measured workload data used to size an IBM Power server from real partition behavior.

Power server sizing evidence is the factual package used to turn an IBM i or AIX hardware conversation into a defensible quote. It should include the measured inputs that change the hardware answer.

  • Memory pressure
  • Disk busy
  • Storage and adapter needs
  • Backup windows
  • Operating system releases
  • Firmware
  • HMC level
  • Peak events
  • Growth assumptions

Sizing evidence matters because replacing one model with a newer model does not prove the new system fits the workload.

Example

A month-end batch window that runs too long should be included as sizing evidence, not reduced to an average CPU number.
