Glossary Term

Certified Refurbished

Secondary market hardware that has been tested, documented, and warrantied by a seller before resale.

Definition

Certified refurbished hardware has gone through some documented testing and validation process before resale, ideally including burn-in testing, diagnostic checks, and a stated warranty. The term is not standardized across sellers, so buyers should ask what testing was actually performed rather than trusting the label alone.

The strongest refurbished hardware partners provide a written test report and stand behind the sale with real warranty coverage on parts and labor, not just a replacement credit.

Example

Two listings both labeled certified refurbished can carry very different real testing and warranty terms, which is why buyers should request documentation before purchase.
